Since Mixing in Math activities are easy to lead, some teachers leave them for substitute teachers or suggest that after-school staff use them. They’re also great for parent nights. Consider giving copies of some activities to parents as a way for them to help their kids to keep up their skills during vacation.
To find an activity that is right for your students, look over the activities on this site and check the level of difficulty, group size, “when to mix in” (e.g., cooking, fitness, literacy), and variations. The activities are geared for the elementary grades, but can easily be adapted for those slightly older or younger.
